Hello everyone! If you’re reading this right now, you're probably wondering what’s going on?? Have I gone mad?? Do I hate Apple now?? Although all of those could be completely reasonable explanations, none of them are the correct answer. So let's find out why I am revisiting Android after all these years…
My current phones
Currently I’m rocking an iPhone 13 mini and an iPhone 13 Pro max, both of which I have enjoyed respectively but, I Will be trading both of them this year. So first of all, the most obvious one, I'll be trading my 13 Pro Max for a 14 Pro in September. I'm not a huge fan of the Max sized phone so I’m going for the 6.1’ model this year but other than that, that’s all there is to tell really. Just this year's latest iPhone, which don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to see it and I’m sure it will be a great phone. But I’m doing something a little more interesting with my mini…
What I’m switching to…
So my good friend Peacock Inside Tech, who works at Google, has been telling me about how good the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are, for the past year or so. He said he would win me over but I did not believe him… and here we are… he has won. This week I am or may have already done, by the time you are reading this, be trading my iPhone 13 mini out in favour of a regular Pixel 6 which is super exciting! I’ve never been tempted to try out an Android phone but the Google Pixel 6 series caught my eye, especially when it was described as the iPhone of Android!
Why I’m switching…
For the past few months I’ve used an iPhone as my primary device and as my secondary device. I love iPhones but sometimes having something different is just more exciting and makes using both devices more exciting to use. Both of my iPhones run iOS (obviously) which can get kind of boring at times as they are very similar phones. Using both operating systems will be much more interesting and I will be able to experience the best of both worlds. The last android I used was the Huawei P20, which I ditched over 2 years ago now, and for good reason, it was an awful device with terrible software. I’ve never actually used a Google Pixel phone so I’m super excited to try it, and to see how good the cameras actually are, I’ve heard so many good things about the 6 series.
What I’m excited about…
So after using iPhones for so long, Android phones, especially Google Pixel phones, have changed a lot so there are a few things that I’m super excited to try out! For example, as an iPhone user this is going to be my first time using features like wireless power sharing, under display fingerprint sensor and using a phone without a notch. I’m also really looking forward to trying the software, as from what I’ve seen it looks really clean and polished on the latest Pixel phones. Another thing I'm looking forward to is the magic eraser tool, it's such a cool feature that Google have included.
The barriers I may face…
So although I do love Tech and I’m kinda crazy, none of those are the reason for me using a second phone. I use a second phone to take all of my photos for my content because my main phone is usually l the subject of the photo as a lot of my content is about the phone I’m using or accessories for it. One thing I will have to find a work around for is airdrop, because I usually use that to transfer my photos from my secondary phone to my main device. I find it's the quickest and easiest way without losing any quality too. So if you have any suggestions for a workaround, let me know!
And that’s about it! There will be a lot more Google Pixel 6 content in the next few weeks while I use the phone which is really exciting, and if you want to stay tuned, then be sure to give me a follow on Instagram and Twitter, bye for now!
