My journey as a content creator

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

Hi everyone, it’s Adam The Tech Enthusiast, and this is a bit different from my usual, but today we are celebrating 10K on Instagram and I wanted to share my journey as a content creator.

What inspired me to start

Before I started content creation, I really enjoyed tech and was always interested in the latest releases from different companies such as Apple and would watch way too many YouTube videos about different products. As a kid, I loved going in town and playing with all the phones and computers on display, it was really fun and I really enjoyed talking to the staff in various shops (which I still do).

Back in December 2020, I was thinking to myself, I really like technology, and I love taking photos, but is there a way to combine them? When I got my iPhone 12 Pro I took photos of it, just for fun, but I was actually really happy with how they turned out. Because I really liked Apple I followed a few Apple related accounts on my private account, and then that is how I got the idea, could I start content creating? So I made this website, and my Instagram account. I won’t lie, it took a few months for me to really find my place in the community and what style content I really enjoy making. I also changed my image a few times, and now I’m at a point where I’m really happy with it and I think it is a good representation of my content. I also recently expanded to other platforms such as Twitter which has been great.

My workflow

I mainly use my 13 Pro Max/13 mini to shoot, and my MacBook Pro 14” to edit. I really enjoy my work flow, it definitely helps with my creativity. Having two phones makes everything so much easier, especially when I want to shoot photos of my phone, which is kinda hard when your main camera is your phone. Usually, I prepare a bulk of posts at a time, which happens at the weekends, when I feel most creative,

My journey so far

There’s been ups, there’s been downs. I started content creation in December 2020, but I didn’t really start taking it seriously until May 2021, when I created a schedule, and I started to push out more content. I’ve met so many other creators and amazing people on my journey too which is a crucial part of being a content creator, talking to other people, and finding out as much as you can.

My advice to other creators

Consistency. You’ve probably heard this thousands of times already, but consistently posting is key. Set yourself some goals, set up a schedule if you need to and stick to it. This is the best way to build a loyal following and it is an easy way to hype up your own content too. Another key piece of advice is to not get too hooked on numbers. I know the feeling, when you put a lot of effort into something and the numbers are low and it’s disheartening, but don’t give up, just remember that the Instagram algorithm can be cruel.

The future

As we go through this year and into 2023, I aim to expand to even more platforms, maybe even YouTube. But I’ll start small, you may see an increase in the amount of reels I push out on Instagram, that’s how I’m going to experiment with light video editing and filming short videos. I would also love to start a podcast in the future…

But for now, thanks for reading, I hope you learnt something new, see you next time!
