Hey everyone, Adam here with an exciting take for you all on this very fine evening (depending on when your reading this), so fasten your seatbelts as your in for a rough ride!
So let's start with the basics. Humans in general are very stubborn, and most of us don't like to admit we are wrong, even we we know we are. This can be problematic. Wether your a casual gamer or a hardcore gamer, you have probably come across the dreaded console wars at some point. The people of Reddit, Twitter and other dark places of the internet can be very defensive about their choice of console and I've even seen some go as far to insult people who choose to use other platforms. In the politest way, its one of the dumbest arguments I've came across in my life (other than iOS Vs Android, but that's for another day) and I'm going to explain why today.
Competition is good. Although many of you may not believe it, competition is what pushes companies and drives them to make better products for us, the consumer. For example, if Google were the only company that made laptops then we would have no choice other than to buy from them, and they would have little reason to innovate and would likely have even higher prices if there was no competition, as they would know that we have no choice other than to buy their product. I don't think I need to say this, but I will anyway, that is a bad thing. It causes higher prices, less innovative products and just an overall worse experience for the consumer. So yes, that means Xbox needs PlayStation and PlayStation needs Xbox as they are constantly trying to be more powerful than one another which results in two better products on the market and more competitive prices because they are trying to outsell one another.

Having a preference isn't a crime. Although many seem to think it is, it most certainly isn't. There are things I prefer on my PS5 and there are things I prefer on my Xbox Series X. Honestly if I could only have one, I would pick my PS5, and mainly because my favourite game (Mortal Kombat) is just better with a PlayStation controller as the placement of the D pad is way more comfortable for fighting games but, that does not mean it is a better console, that's just my choice and someone else may have different needs and want to play different games and that could mean that the Xbox is the better console for them. Some people prefer the UI, or the controllers or the exclusive games of a certain console, all of which are choices and there is no wrong or right answer to that. Someone may prefer the Switch because of its portability but that doesn't mean it's a better console than the Xbox or PlayStation, its just their choice.
GAMES>>>>ANTHING ELSE. Sometime people get so caught up comparing spec for spec and they don't even think about or care about the games that they can actually play on a console. For example, the Switch by far, is the least powerful console out of the 3 but, its the only one that can run Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Bayonetta, Splatoon, Kirby and Smash bros which is strong line up of exclusives, not to mention there are more, many of which I enjoy myself! This is probably the main reason I have all 3, just to play the exclusives of each console (that and I make bad purchasing decisions) and without the exclusives, there would be no reason for me to have all 3 because they would all just do the same thing. I just love having such a huge games library to choose from, although I probably spend more time choosing a game than actually playing, but that's a me problem.
My opinion is that people just like to endlessly argue, because realistically there is no objective to console wars. It's an ongoing thing. No one will ever win, because we will never get to a point where everyone suddenly agrees and burns every console that is not made my said brand, it's just not gonna happen. Like I said in all of my points above, the fact that all 3 consoles exist, is completely a good thing. Imagine how boring it would be if there was only one, there would be literally no choice. So with all of that said, let's appreciate all of the awesome games and consoles that we have, and enjoy them instead of wasting precious gaming time on useless arguing, imagine all of the campaign games you could have completed instead of writing that angry post on Reddit about how much you hate Xbox...
So thank you for reading everyone -sorry if that was a bit of a rant- I tried to keep it as informative as possible :)
